Antique Georgian Cowrie Shell Pendant
A wonderful antique cowrie shell pendant dating to the Georgian period, most likely between 1802 - 1860 when there was a great interest in seashells with many being imported into Britain via East India Company trade routes.
The pendant features two beautiful Cypraea cowrie shell stones set into a repousé gold tone metal frames with a concealed hook top embedded into the top panel.
A lovely aspect of this pendant is that the back is just as beautiful as the front thanks to the framing of the shells.
The pendant is in good antique condition.
