A comical and rather unusual antique seal most likely inspired by Bacchus, the roman god of wine, revelry, fertility and theatre.
The seal features a black intaglio carved with a little putto cherub ringing a bell with the contradictaory phrase 'HUSH' carved below.
The metal casing the intaglio sits in features cascading bunches of grapes, a beautiful frame design I have never seen before.
There is a small split to the metal frame around the seal (picture three). The seal is in good antique condition overall.
