Antique Boer War Kimberley Siege Bullet Pendant

€414,95

An incredible piece of history from the Boer War, an antique pendant that has been made from a bullet case used during the Kimberley Siege that took place between 1899 to 1900.

The bullet is inscribed 'Kimberley Siege' with a heart charm hanging from the bullet with the date the war took place. The bullet has been encased in a gold top with a round bale.

After the war ended local jewellers from the mining town created pieces of jewellery from Shrapnell and other elements used in battle. Some items of jewellery are documented in this very extensive online forum thread which can be found by clicking here.

This is the only example of a bullet casing that I have been able to find whilst researching the piece.

As shown in the pictures there is some age related surface wear to the bullet casing and heart. The wear could be cleaned if preferred but I feel it is important to offer it in the original condition.
