A rare & wonderful antique 15ct gold charm in the form of a matchbox that opens to reveal a tiny wooden match.
The charm features a fine enamel front with a label for Besto matches by The Hulme Patent Advertising Match Works who began the production matches in 1904 in Irlam, Manchester. A brief history of the company can be found here.
The charm is unmarked but tests as 15ct gold. It is such an incredible little piece!
The match tray is a little stiff to pull out but does open. The charm is in good antique condition.
