A wonderful antique Victorian gold metal necklace featuring beautiful jewel toned Bressan enamel (emaux bressans) panels. 

Bressan enamel originated in the Bresse region of France gaining great popularity during the 19th Century. Enamel panels were created by hand by highly skilled craftsmen using layers of enamel drops and gold leaf. 

The necklace features openwork brass panels, each set with a bressan enamel plaque. The panels are linked by decorative floral bales with tiny glass jewels framing each design.

The necklace features a secure hook clasp and can be adjusted in length at the clasp if required.

There is some age related wear to the base of some of the metal panels. The necklace remains in good antique condition overall.
